What the student should notice

1. Dense connectivity hits a wall Neurons increase linearly, but all pairwise connections increase quadratically.

2. Modularity changes the scaling rule Most connections stay local; a small number of long-range bridges carry information farther.

3. Bigger brains must economize on wire Real brains use sparse connectivity, local circuits, hierarchical organization, and limited long-range axons rather than all-to-all wiring.
